Passages from The Moulin Huge from Diva's point of view:

"All right already, I'm coming," Diva yelled as she paused to look at herself in the mirror before answering the phone.  Oops, those lips need adjusting.  She took her pinky finger and gently wiped the corner of her mouth.  One more look in the mirror and she said, "Ciao, this is The Diva.  Oh, hello, darling.  Yes.  The Diva can do the phone interview now.  Yes, yes, The Diva knows.  The Diva is so sorry that it is raining, but The Diva can not get wet.  Just a moment, darling, and let The Diva get adjusted.  The Diva will put the phone down just a moment."  She hurried over to get Mary, a name lovingly given to her smoking habit, and went back to sit on the couch nestled in front of a huge wall mirror.  She took out a lighter and lit Mary, took a deep breath of smoke, then exhaled and said seductively into the phone, "The Diva is ready."

She looked at the poster and came to the conclusion that at thirty-five her empire was slipping and she needed to be back in the eye of the public again.  Although she had been in an impressive number of films and plays, she had never been nominated for any kind of award, not even for "The White Elephant," which cut her to the bone since, in her opinion, it was her best work.  Her worth at the box office had fallen, and that was why she needed to manipulate Aaron to get a movie deal.  Even so, the Los Angeles-born Diva had managed to create an air about her which led one to believe she was truly a worthy star.  Earlier in her career she listed on her bio that she was born in Antigua.  She had learned to speak with a low-key British tone to her voice in order to give her an edge over the American models and actresses.  Most of her money had come from fashion and the company she kept.  But Diva Aneicia Borro always landed on her feet.  As long as her hair was done, Diva could face anything except maybe last night.

Holding the microphone, Diva looked at peculiarly, "How do you work this thing?"  Laughter.  "Thank you, that may be my only laugh except I warn you I will laugh at myself."  She laughed at herself.  "Come on; don't let me be the only one."  The audience laughed again.  "It's great to be here tonight.  Really great.  I can't believe I came together for this event.  There was a conflict of personalities and I don't mean the performers.  Are you guys having a good time?"  The crowd roared yes.  "Well, it's over now."  She laughed at herself again and then stopped and looked at the audience, who laughed in return.  "You guys are probably wondering what I am doing up here.  I'm not doing a song, or dancing and I don't need the money.  We do get paid, don't we?  And believe it or not, I am a real girl." . . .
